Frequently Asked Question

PadMu5 pen not working
Last Updated 3 days ago

The pen doesn't work or isn't recognized

In almost every case the pen's battery is flat. The PadMu 5 pen has a battery and needs charging, especially after a few days without use (for example after a summer break).

How to charge it:

  1. Go to the tablet Home page.
  2. Remove the rubber cap from the tip, if fitted.
  3. Place the pen with its flat magnetic side, tip facing down, on the top right side of the tablet (see picture).
  4. After about two seconds a small icon appears at the top centre of the screen showing the charge level: the pen is connected and charging.

The icon doesn't appear: the pen has not been recognized. The top end of the pen should sit about 2 cm below the top edge of the tablet (see picture). Detach the pen and place it again in this position: the icon appears once the magnet snaps in.

The icon appears with a "!" only: the pen is completely discharged. Leave it attached and charging until the charge level is shown (a full charge from empty takes about 90 minutes).

If the icon never appears, open a ticket in the Contact us section and send us a short video of what happens when you attach the pen, and we'll check right away.

The rubber cap doesn't erase

On PadMu 5 the rubber cap only protects the tip. You can't erase by flipping the pen: that feature was available only up to PadMu 4.

To erase, use the eraser icon in the pen toolbar at the bottom of the Reader (or the dedicated one if you're using the symbols feature). To clear all notes on the page, use the trash can icon.

The tablet drains battery even when idle

If the pen stays attached to the tablet, it keeps charging and drains the battery. Detach it when you don't need it. To save more battery, keep Wi-Fi off when you don't need it and set the front light to 80–85%.
